Momitor Math Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 2, 2026
Momitor Math is a math learning app for children in kindergarten through grade 6. It is free, has no ads and no in-app purchases, and does not collect personal information.
What the app keeps
- Learning progress: which skills a child has practiced, their answers, which hints they used and how long they took. This is kept on the device so the app can choose the next problem.
- Children's names: a grown-up may type a first name or nickname for each child so they can switch between children. Names are optional.
- Settings: sound, bigger buttons, left-handed play, plain counters and the grade for each child.
Where it goes
- On your device. Everything above is stored on the iPad or iPhone.
- Your own iCloud, if you use iCloud. Where each child has got to, their name and your settings sync between your own devices through Apple's iCloud key-value storage: how each skill stands, when it is next due, the counts behind that, the check-ins and the placement results. Not the answers themselves. No answer a child gives leaves the device it was given on, by any road. We cannot see any of it, and a grown-up can turn the syncing off in the app.
- Devices a grown-up has linked, over the local network. If a grown-up links another family device, that device receives each child's name and where they have got to: how each skill stands, when it is next due for review, the counts behind that, their check-in and placement results, how much they have played day by day, and their play settings. If a grown-up joins a class in Teacher mode, the student device sends, for each child a grown-up has switched on for the class, that child's first name, grade, lesson, how each skill stands, how many answers and minutes in the last seven days, when they last played, and a random code for the device. Neither sends an answer your child gave, how long they took, anything they wrote or drew, or any recording. Both links are started by a grown-up behind the gate, both stop when the link is removed, and neither goes over the internet. A teacher's device keeps what it was sent while the class is held, forgets any child it has not heard about for two months, and clears all of it when Teacher mode is turned off.
- Anywhere a grown-up sends it. The grown-ups' area has share buttons: the week in words, a grade's skill report, a milestone card with the child's name on it, a practice sheet to print, the optional learning record, and in Teacher mode the class or one child as a spreadsheet. Nothing is shared unless a grown-up presses one and chooses where it goes.
- Nowhere else. The app sends nothing to us or to anyone else. It has no server of its own, no analytics, advertising, tracking or third-party code, and it does not use location or contacts.
The camera and the microphone
- The camera is used only when a grown-up scans a code to link another family device or to join a class. Nothing is photographed and no image is kept.
- The microphone is used only when a grown-up turns on "Say the answer", so a child can speak an answer, and when a grown-up records their own voice for the praise lines. A spoken answer is understood on this device and is never recorded, kept or sent anywhere. A grown-up's own recording stays in this app on this device, is kept out of the device's backups, and can be deleted there.
Apple Intelligence
On a device with Apple Intelligence, the grown-ups' area can put the week in friendlier words and answer a grown-up's question about their own child's progress. The counts and skill names go to Apple's on-device writing model and the words come back. Nothing leaves the device, nothing goes to us, and nothing goes to a server. The app checks what comes back against its own facts and shows the plain version instead if anything does not match. A device without Apple Intelligence shows the plain version and nothing else is different.
The optional learning record
In the grown-ups' area, a grown-up can turn on "Help improve Momitor Math". This keeps a record of answers (with a random code instead of a name, and no audio) on the device. It is kept out of the device's backup, so it leaves the device only if a grown-up shares it using the share sheet.
Deleting
In the grown-ups' area, "Delete this child's learning data" removes that child's progress from the device and from iCloud, and the whole learning record with it, because the record holds no names and so cannot be split up by child. The jelly challenge levels are shared by everyone on the device and stay. Removing a child removes their progress too. Deleting the app removes what is on the device, except the code that says which family or class this device belongs to, which is kept so a reinstall rejoins without scanning again. "Leave family" and turning off Teacher mode remove that too.
Children's privacy
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children, and the app has no way to send it to us. The grown-ups' area, including its one link to the App Store, is behind a question for grown-ups.
